A golden opportunity to beat a team like New Zealand in a Test series for the first time was missed by the hosts Bangladesh on Saturday on their favorite home turf at Mirpur.

New Zealand beat Bangladesh by four wickets in the second Test to finish the two-match series level.

Fifteen wickets fell on the opening day before rain washed out the entire second day and the opening session of the third.

Even after the defeat, there are no allegations regarding the wicket for Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Shanto has expressed the idea of playing on a spin-friendly wicket on home ground in the future too.

Shanto doesn’t feel that the home field advantage has been boomeranged against the Kiwis as he feels home advantage must be taken.

“No, I don't feel that way. When we play international cricket, especially Test cricket, we don't come here to make progress. We came here to win. It is important for us to prepare to win here. I feel that such facilities must be taken here,' at the post-match press conference, Bangladesh captain said.

Shanto wants to take the work of progress from domestic cricket, “Personally, I feel that when we play first-class cricket, we can practice well on such wickets or conditions (spin-friendly). When we play on the home ground, we played on such wickets in NCL. Again, for playing outside, we could make two or three wickets of that kind (sporting or pace-friendly),”

“I think international cricket is not a place to practice. Here we come to win” he added.
