Reece Topley of England is poised to be ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to an ankle injury, only three days before his team's tournament opener on Saturday.
While nothing has been proven, it is believed that scans done after Topley rolled his ankle at training on Monday revealed substantial damage.
Given the 28-year-old left-excellent armer's form this year, it is a major setback for England's World Cup prospects. England is waiting for the organisers to approve his replacement.
As England's travelling reserves, Tymal Mills, another left-armer, and right-arm seamer Richard Gleeson are the speed bowlers in Australia.
Confirmation of Topley's replacement could come on Thursday, with Mills, who himself has not played since August because of a toe injury, the most likely option.
