Pakistan drop big trio for Bangladesh series

Bangladesh lost the Chittagong Test despite having a swarm of spinners and Mustafizur Rahman, who played as the only fast bowler in Bangladesh in that Test. However, Abu Jayed Rahi received the green signal for Dhaka Test and was replaced by Mustafizur Rahman and in addition a pace bowling all-rounder Soumya Sarkar.

Fast bowlers were successful at the end of the first day as they took 3 wickets in 26 overs. While,  spinners took only 1 wicket in 64 overs. Bangladesh pace bowling Coach Ottis Gibson thinks Bangladesh should have the courage to play more than one fast bowler on home soil.

“As a fast bowling coach, I would definitely like to have one or two more fast bowlers. But at the moment it is difficult, because we have to play one pacer. However, I think today's conditions have shown that sometimes even in Bangladesh, we have to make a bold decision to play two fast bowlers.” he said.

West Indies issue LA 2028 Olympic cricket plea

The Caribbean islands who compete in world cricket tournaments as the West Indies are in danger of missing out entirely on possible qualification for the LA Olympics

Before the start of the Test series, Bangladesh kept 5 pacers in the squad. However, Bangladesh was reluctant to keep more than one fast bowler in the XI. Evidence of this has been found in both the Tests against the West Indies. Gibson also thinks that Bangladesh should change its attitude.

The Caribbean coach has been working with the pacers regularly since he took charge of Bangladesh last year. He was always in favor of more opportunities for pacers. He has the fast bowlers like Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Abu Jayed Rahi, Khaled Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam and Ebadat Hossain in the pace unit of Bangladesh.
