Soumya Sarkar has been replaced by Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming second Test against West Indies in Dhaka starting on March 11th. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the matter by a press release on Tuesday.

Shakib is suffering a strain on his left thigh and ruled out from the squad. After a magical return to international cricket from ban, Shakib had injured himself during the third ODI and re-injured in the first Test.

However, left-arm batsman and part time bowler Soumya played all three ODIs but didn’t get the part in Test squad. Shakib’s injury has added extra pressure for Tigers after a stunning 395-run chase win by Windies in the first Test match played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium in Chittagong. Now Soumya gets the chance to boost the host side. 


Soumya last played Test in 2019 against Afghanistan. After that he was in the squad against Pakistan but he did not get a chance in the XI. However, the batsman took leave before the Zimbabwe series at home.
