Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman gets a reality check as he was dropped for the first time in his career due to performance after Bangladesh opted for Rubel Hossain in the last ODI’s of the three-match series.
Though initially it was told that Mustafizur received a slight bit of niggle later BCB it was revealed that team management opted to drop him due to performance.

‘’He had played with this kind of niggles in the past. In that sense you can consider him to be dropped due to performance,’’ said a BCB official in Colombo.
The form of Mustafizur looked to be an area of concern as though he picked up wickets the economy rate hardly looked to be the same for him in the recent past.
It can be said that earlier opponents used to remain wary about his variations but in the recent past that had not been the case and as a result they are targeting him.
Wickets are coming in every match. Mustafiz has taken wickets in 13 matches from 16 ODI’s that he played. He has clinched two, three, four even five wickets in a match. But the concerning thing is he is also leaking too many runs. This never happened in Mustafiz’s career before.
This year Mustafiz took 34 wickets in 16 ODI matches. For the wickets his average of 28.14 is looking great. But Mustafiz’s economy of 6.77 is a bit of a concern for the Bangladesh’s team management. Specially when his economy was just 4.20 in 18 ODI’s last year.
