Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan misses the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka as Bangladesh Cricket Board announces 14 member squad on July 16. That marks the return of Taijul Islam in the 50 over format.
Shakib who was in exceptional form in the recent World Cup, scoring 606 runs with 11 wickets, earlier requested BCB not to consider him for the three match series happening from July 26 – 31 in Colombo.

BCB granted his plea as he is supposed to perform the ‘Holy Hajj’.
While Taijul Islam and Anamul Haque returns to the squad, there is no place for Liton Kumar Das and Abu Jayed Rahi. Liton is expected to get married on July 28, a reason he wasn’t considered, while Jayed is recently included in the BCB A setup after completing his World Cup journey without getting any opportunity to play.
The injury concern over Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Mahmudullah Riad and Mushriqur Rahim are over. This trio is also included in the squad.
Taijul played his last ODI match against Afghanistan on 2016 and is expected to join the team in Sri lanka straight from India, where he is playing for the BCB XI at the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappaiah Memorial Cricket Tournament .
Anamul, who had not played since the home series against West Indies, returned to the ODI squad on the back of impressive performance in the recently concluded for four-day series against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh team : Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riad, Mohammad Mithun, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Sabbir Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Mohammad Saifuddin and Taijul Islam.
