Before the last ball, I thought of Mushfiqur Rahim: Ben Stokes

English all-rounder and the hero of World Cup final Ben Stokes said before the last ball of the final over he thought of Bangladesh Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim who made a blunder during a World T20 game against India in 2016 from a pretty similar position.
Needing two from the last three balls, Mushfiqur went for a glory shot as he attempted a big one that resulted a catch at the mid-wicket region. The rash shot handed Bangladesh the defeat from a good position of winning the game and subsequently paved the way for the India to storm into the semifinal.

After winning the maiden World Cup for England, though in some controversial manner, Stokes said he remembered that before the last ball at Lord’s.
“Just before that last ball, all I was thinking of was Bangladesh in the World T20 game (against India in 2016).” Stokes said.
Stokes learned from Mushfiqur’s mistake and realized that it's important to get the team to a safe position rather than being a hero by hitting a six.
“Don’t try to be a hero and try to hit it for six. Try to get one run and take it to the Super Over. That was my process. Emotions were running high at that time.” Stokes added.
Stokes was successful in getting England to the Super Over but failed to take England over the line in 50 overs as he got run out while attempting the second run. Stokes was annoyed with himself because of that.
“I was pretty annoyed with myself. I had to switch my head back on and had to get the job done for my team (in the Super Over),” Stokes concluded.
But all of this drama ended sweetly for Stokes and England. As they have beaten New Zealand in World Cup final on boundary count and won their first ever ODI World Cup trophy.
