Cricket Australia has named a 14-player CA XI to take on Bangladesh in a three-day warm-up match in Darwin from August 6, a week before the opening Test of the two-match series.

Top-order batters Sam Konstas, Kurtis Patterson and Josh Philippe headline the squad as they look to strengthen their claims for Australia's upcoming Test tour of South Africa.

Consistent Sheffield Shield performers Campbell Kellaway and Corey Rocchiccioli have also been included.

The match will be played at Marrara Cricket Ground alongside the main venue, with both teams agreeing to field 13 players, meaning it will not carry first-class status.

Cricket Australia Head of National Development Sonya Thompson said the fixture against a strong Bangladesh side would provide players with an ideal opportunity to test themselves in a representative environment.

Former Australia coach Tim Nielsen will oversee the CA XI, with Steven Crook serving as assistant coach.
