Zimbabwe have suffered a major setback in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with Brendan Taylor ruled out due to a right hamstring injury.

The ICC Event Technical Committee has approved Ben Curran as his replacement after medical assessments confirmed Taylor would not recover in time to take further part in the tournament, Zimbabwe Cricket announced.

The 40-year-old, who featured in both the inaugural and current editions of the T20 World Cup, sustained the injury during Zimbabwe’s opening match against Oman

After taking three catches, he was batting on 31 off 30 when he pulled his hamstring and retired hurt. All-rounder Tony Munyonga replaced him in the XI against Australia.

Despite Taylor’s absence, Zimbabwe produced a strong performance to secure a memorable win against the mighty Australia.
