Openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shadman Islam provided a solid start, adding 52 runs for the first wicket. Shadman looked fluent during his stay, scoring 35 off 44 balls with six boundaries before falling lbw to Andy McBrine.
Joy continued to anchor the innings with typical patience, making 34 off 86 balls before being dismissed also by McBrine after a promising stand with Mominul Haque.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto looked to counterattack but lasted only 11 deliveries, striking a six before becoming McBrine’s third wicket of the morning.
The off-spinner dominated the session with figures of 3 for 34 from 12 disciplined overs.
At the break, Bangladesh were steadied by Mominul Haque (17)* and *Mushfiqur Rahim (3)*, who will resume in the second session.
