Bangladesh Under-19 team made a winning start to the five-match series, defeating Afghanistan U-19 by 5 runs (DLS method) at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura.

Batting first, Afghanistan posted 265 for 9 in 50 overs, powered by Uzairullah Niazi’s unbeaten 140 off 137 balls. Only Khalid Ahmadzai (34) and Khan Ahmadzai (33) provided notable support.

For Bangladesh, Ikbal Hossain Emon starred with the ball, claiming 5 wickets, while Rizan Hossain picked up 2.

In reply, Bangladesh reached 231 for 4 in 46 overs before bad light stopped play, giving the hosts victory under the DLS method.

The chase started poorly as Jawad Abrar (10), captain Azizul Haque Tamim (0), and Rifat Beg (26) fell cheaply, leaving Bangladesh in trouble at 60 for 3.

A brilliant 139-run stand between Kalam Siddique and Rizan Hossain revived the innings. Kalam struck a superb 101 off 119 balls, while Rizan remained unbeaten on 75 off 96 balls, guiding Bangladesh to safety.

Mohammad Abdullah stayed not out on 12, adding a steady partnership to close the chase.

For Afghanistan, Wahidullah Zadran took 2 wickets, with Nasratullah Nuristani and Jaitullah Shaheen picking one each.

With this win, Bangladesh U-19 lead the series 1–0.
