West Indies started their T20I series against Bangladesh with a 16-run win in Chattogram as West Indies posted 165 for 3 in their 20 overs after winning the toss, led by captain Shai Hope’s unbeaten 46 off 28 balls and Rovman Powell’s 44 not out from 28 deliveries.
Openers Alick Athanaze (34) and Brandon King (33) gave the visitors a steady start, adding 59 runs for the first wicket before Taskin Ahmed broke through.
Taskin was the most successful Bangladesh bowler, finishing with 2 for 36, while Nasum Ahmed bowled economically for 15 runs in his four overs.
In reply, Bangladesh fell short, managing 149 in 19.4 overs. Their chase was derailed early as they slipped to 41 for 4 within six overs.
Tanzid Hasan hit a quick 15 off 5 balls, and Towhid Hridoy made 28, but the middle order failed to build partnerships. Tanzim Hasan Sakib (33) and Nasum Ahmed (20) showed some resistance lower down, but it wasn’t enough.
Jayden Seales and Jason Holder both claimed three wickets each, while Akeal Hosein bowled tightly with figures of 2 for 22. Romario Shepherd also picked up one wicket.
West Indies lead the three-match series 1–0.
