Bangladesh wrapped up the three-match ODI series in style, thrashing the West Indies by 179 runs in the decider at Mirpur.

The hosts had earlier won the first match by 74 runs, while the second went down to the wire, with the Caribbean side leveling the series in a dramatic super over.

But in the final match, the West Indies were blown away by Bangladesh’s spinners, collapsing for just 117 runs while chasing 297.

Chasing a daunting 297-run target, the visitors were in deep trouble early on, losing four wickets for just 46 runs. Nasum sparked the collapse with three early wickets, while Tanvir Islam struck once.

Then Rishad Hossain came to bowl, picking up two wickets in one over to effectively end any West Indies resistance. The tourists were eventually bowled out for 117, with Akeem Auguste top-scoring with 18, and Justin Greaves, Alick Athanaze, and Keacy Carty contributing 15 each.

For Bangladesh, Rishad and Nasum Ahmed took three wickets apiece, while Tanvir and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two each, a collective spin assault that sealed the series with one match to spare.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Miraz won the toss and chose to bat first. His decision was vindicated as openers Saif Hassan and Soumya Sarkar gave the hosts a flying start with a 176-run opening stand. Despite a late collapse, Bangladesh managed a strong total of 296 for 8.

Both openers looked in sublime touch. By the 10th over, Bangladesh were cruising at 74 without loss, with Soumya reaching his 14th ODI fifty off 48 balls. Soon after, Saif joined him with a half-century as Bangladesh crossed 100 runs inside 16 overs.

Saif’s fine innings came to an end for 80 off 72 balls (6 fours, 6 sixes) when he tried to clear long-on off Roston Chase but was caught by Justin Greaves. Soumya followed soon after for 91 off 86 balls (7 fours, 4 sixes), mistiming a lofted shot to deep midwicket off Akeal.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy added 50 runs for the fourth wicket, but neither could carry on to a big score. Hridoy made 28 off 44 balls before falling, while late contributions from Nurul Hasan Sohan (a four and a six) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (17 off 17) pushed Bangladesh close to the 300 mark.

With this emphatic win, Bangladesh sealed the ODI series 2–1, showcasing a dominant all-round performance led by their spinners and top-order batters.

Rishad became the Player of the Series after taking 12 wickets from three matches, along with 68 runs.
