In a heart-stopping finish at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, West Indies triumphed in the Super Over to level the series 1–1 after the second ODI against Bangladesh ended in a dramatic tie.

Both teams finished with 213 runs in regulation play, but it was Shai Hope’s calm leadership and Akeal Hosein’s nerve under pressure that guided the visitors to victory in the tiebreaker under the Mirpur lights.

In one of the most gripping ODI finishes in recent years, Bangladesh and West Indies played out a nail-biting tie in the second ODI, setting up a Super Over decider to determine the winner.

Both sides finished on 213 runs, with West Indies falling agonizingly short of victory in their chase of 214, after a late collapse and disciplined Bangladeshi spin bowling under lights.

Bangladesh, opting to bat first, were once again anchored by Soumya Sarkar’s patient 45 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s steady 32.

However, their innings lacked acceleration until Rishad Hossain unleashed a breathtaking cameo, smashing 39 off just 14 balls, including three sixes and as many fours to lift the hosts to a respectable 213 for 7.

West Indies’ bold decision to field a full spin attack paid dividends early. Alick Athanaze, rolling his arm over unexpectedly, produced a dream spell of 2 for 14 from 10 overs, while Gudakesh Motie claimed 3 for 65.

The visitors’ slow bowlers collectively choked the run flow, leaving Bangladesh struggling before Rishad’s late fireworks salvaged the innings.

In reply, Shai Hope’s unbeaten 53 anchored West Indies’ chase amid regular wickets. Nasum Ahmed (2/38) and Rishad Hossain (3/42) spun a web around the middle order, while Tanvir Islam struck key blows to derail the chase.

Hope nearly pulled off a miracle with help from Akeal’s late cameo (16 off 17), but when Saif Hassan clean-bowled Akeal with one ball left and two needed, the scores were level, leaving the Mirpur crowd on its feet.

The thrilling finish means the series remains alive, and the next match will be the series decider on 23rd of October.
