Zimbabwe Cricket has accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) invitation to join a T20I tri-nation series alongside Sri Lanka, after Afghanistan withdrew due to recent tensions with Pakistan.

According to the PCB, the series is scheduled to help all teams prepare for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

The tournament will take place in Pakistan from November 17 to 29, proceeding as originally planned.

The series will kick off on November 17 with Pakistan facing Zimbabwe at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Afghanistan pulled out following border clashes between Pakistani and Afghan forces, after which the PCB invited Zimbabwe as a replacement.

The tri-nation series was initially set to feature Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, with the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Tensions escalated between Islamabad and Kabul after clashes on October 12, when Taliban forces and India-backed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) launched attacks on Pakistan.

The Pakistan Armed Forces responded, reportedly killing over 200 militants, while 23 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives.

Tri-Nation Series Schedule:

• Nov 17: Pakistan vs Zimbabwe – Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

• Nov 19: Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe – Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

• Nov 22: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka – Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
