Originally, Litton was expected to make his comeback in the ODI series against the West Indies.
However, doubts have now emerged over his participation. According to a source from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media department, Litton will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to assess the progress of his recovery.
The results of the scan will determine whether the right-handed wicketkeeper-batter will be fit to feature in the West Indies series.
The team management is also awaiting the medical update. Although Litton has yet to resume full training, he has been continuing his rehabilitation at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Concerns remain over whether he will have enough time to regain match fitness before the series, and the management is reluctant to take any risks with him.
A BCB source told Cricfrenzy, “Litton’s muscle strain has improved, but he will need to undergo another MRI before the ODI series. Only after that will we make a final decision. However, we are not willing to take any risks with him.”
Litton sustained the injury during a training session on September 22, ahead of Bangladesh’s Asia Cup match against India. At the time, the team management believed the injury was minor, but it eventually turned out to be more serious than initially thought.
The ODI series between Bangladesh and the West Indies is scheduled to begin on October 18, with the remaining two matches to be played on October 21 and October 23.
The three-match T20I series will follow on October 27, 29, and 31, while the Caribbean side is set to arrive in Bangladesh on October 15.
