Afghanistan fast bowler Mohammad Saleem has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi due to a groin (adductor) overload.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that he will undergo rehabilitation at their High Performance Center.

In his absence, Bilal Sami, a right-arm medium pacer, has been called up to join the ODI squad.

Saleem, 23, has featured in two ODIs, both against Bangladesh in July 2023, and played his only Test against Sri Lanka earlier this year in Colombo.

The first ODI between Afghanistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, October 8.
