Bangladesh stumbled early at 24 for 3, but skipper Jaker Ali (32) and Shamim Hossain (33) steadied the innings. Sohan then held firm in the closing overs, supported by Shoriful Islam’s quickfire 11 not out, to seal the win.
Earlier, Afghanistan posted 147 for 5, built on Ibrahim Zadran’s 38 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 30. Bangladesh’s bowlers impressed, with Nasum Ahmed taking 2 for 25 and Shoriful Islam conceding only 13 runs in four overs.
Reflecting on the performance, captain Jaker Ali said: “It feels good. As a team we played good cricket. Today we were more clinical. Wicket was better than yesterday but the bowlers showed the character. I think this is our job to take those chances against the quality spinners. We looked to get the boundaries. Credit goes to the boys. Sohan bhai did well after coming back. It is not easy to make a comeback like this. I am proud of the efforts.”
The final T20I will be played in Sharjah on October 5.
