Bangladesh captain Litton Das has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan due to a side strain. The injury, sustained during the Asia Cup, already kept him out of the high-voltage encounters against India and Pakistan. The right-handed batter is set to return home for treatment.

In his place, top-order batter Soumya Sarkar has been recalled to the squad.

However, complications over visa processing have cast doubt on his immediate availability. With the series set to begin on October 2 in Sharjah, questions remain over whether Soumya will be able to join the camp in time.

Sources suggest it may take up to three days to secure his visa, leaving uncertainty over his participation in the opening match.

The three T20Is will be played on October 2, 3, and 5 in Sharjah. This series marks Soumya’s return to the national side after a prolonged absence, despite consistent performances in domestic and overseas leagues.

Reports indicate he wasn’t the selectors’ first-choice replacement, but strong form in the ongoing NCL T20, where he scored 63 and 45 in his first two matches, earned him a recall. Before traveling to the UAE, Soumya may feature in one more domestic match.
