The major highlight is the return of veteran wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor, whose comeback is expected to add both experience and stability to the batting order. Left-arm pacer Richard Ngarava also rejoins the squad after recovering from injury, strengthening the pace attack alongside Blessing Muzarabani.
Four players- Clive Madande, Tony Munyonga, Brad Evans and uncapped seamer Ernest Masuku have been drafted in after missing Zimbabwe’s last ODI series against Ireland.
Zimbabwe’s convener of selectors, David Mutendera, said Taylor’s presence would be invaluable in the dressing room:
“We are delighted to welcome Brendan back into the fold. His experience and quality are invaluable, especially in pressure situations, and his presence will no doubt lift the dressing room. This squad blends proven match-winners with youngsters hungry to prove themselves, which will be crucial against a strong Sri Lankan side.”
