Litton: I will miss Kohli

The 30-year-old made it clear that his sole focus as captain is to lead Bangladesh to series victories.
“Look, there’s nothing to prove here. Every international cricketer wants to perform, and every Bangladesh captain wants to see the team win. I’m no exception. I want something big to happen under my captaincy. I want to win every series I lead. That’s the only goal,” Litton said
Litton expressed hope that this leadership role will help him regain form, as he has struggled with consistency recently.

“There’s no pressure. Even when I wasn’t captain, my performance wasn’t always great. Being captain doesn’t automatically mean things will go bad. It could even turn out to be an advantage. I believe those who think positively, eventually get results—and that’s where my mindset is. I’ll try to stay positive and bring results to my side.”

When asked whether he plans to implement a specific brand of cricket under his leadership, Litton responded pragmatically:
“I wouldn't call it branded cricket. Some matches may require chasing 180–200 runs, others may demand a more calculated chase of 140–145. My focus is on winning—how I can win the match. A batter might score 40 off 20 one day, and the same batter may only need to score 15 off 20 another day. I want every player to stay involved in the game, to understand what’s expected of them on that particular day. If everyone grasps what the team needs from them, the results will naturally follow. That’s more important than just following a so-called brand of cricket.”
Despite his new position, Litton shared that he doesn’t have any leadership role models.
“I didn’t perform well when I wasn’t captain, and now that I am, the opposite might happen—I might start doing well. Both good and bad are possible. But I don’t follow any specific individual as a captain. I don’t have a role model in that regard.”
The series against the UAE will mark a fresh chapter for Bangladesh’s T20I side under Litton's leadership, as they look to build towards the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
