Zimbabwe head into the match on a high after a dramatic three-wicket victory in Sylhet, where they chased down 174 runs — their highest successful chase in Test cricket. The win ended a drought dating back to 2021 and marked their fourth Test victory away from home.

Speaking to the media in Sylhet, Curran stressed the need for sustained focus.

"We are expecting Bangladesh to come really hard at us. We are not expecting this to be an easy game. We have to work hard for every moment. We can hopefully put in a similar performance to last game," Curran said.

The Sylhet Test held special significance for Curran, as it was his first win in the longest format since debuting earlier in 2024. While he managed only 18 runs in the first innings, he played a vital role in the chase, scoring 44 runs during a crucial 95-run opening partnership with Brian Bennett.

Blessing Muzarabani was the standout performer, bagging nine wickets in the match, including a six-wicket haul in the second innings that dismantled Bangladesh's batting lineup.

"It is a great feeling, having put in a lot of hard work leading into the series. Obviously, the series is not done. There's a big game to come in the next few days," Curran said.

The 28-year-old noted that the Zimbabwe camp is full of belief following the historic victory, but cautioned that adapting to the conditions in Chattogram will be essential.

"Winning Tests always gives guys confidence. Everyone is going to take different learning from the win in Sylhet. As long as we are prepared to move forward as individuals, we are in a good place."

Curran also credited senior teammates Sean Williams and Craig Ervine for mentoring him early in his international career.

"I am relatively new in international cricket so I am like a sponge trying to learn as much as I can from Sean and Craig. It will help my development. I will be silly if I didn't try to tap into their experience," he said.

The second and final Test of the series will get underway at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday, April 28.
