In a media release issued on Tuesday, the BCB said the matches were postponed in honour of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who passed away earlier in the day.
As part of the state mourning, no BPL matches will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in line with the general holiday declared by the Government of Bangladesh marking the first of three days of national mourning.
The BPL Governing Council will publish a revised itinerary in due course, which will include the matches originally scheduled for January 4. The matches on January 1 and 2 will remain the same. The BPL Governing Council will issue a revised itinerary covering matches scheduled from 5 January 2026 onwards in due course.
According to the original schedule, Chattogram Royals were set to face Sylhet Titans in the first match of the day, while Rangpur Riders were to play against Dhaka Capitals in the second match.
