Russell has been a constant since coming on board in IPL 2014, and was among five players retained by the franchise ahead of the 2025 mega auction for INR 12 crore.
Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer, who rose to prominence with a breakout IPL season for KKR in 2021 that earned him a call-up to the national side is among the players set to be released by the three-time champions.
Also on KKR’s release list are several major international names, including South Africa’s Anrich Nortje (signed for INR 6.5 crore) and Quinton de Kock (INR 3.6 crore), Australian fast bowler Spencer Johnson (INR 2.8 crore), Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz (INR 2 crore) and England all-rounder Moeen Ali (INR 2 crore).
