The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 auction, originally scheduled for November 17 and then postponed to November 21, will now be held on November 23, the BPL governing body confirms.

The auction will see the five franchises compete to sign domestic and foreign players at a five-star hotel in Dhaka.

The delay of the auction could also push back the tournament by about a week. Previously, the BPL was set to begin on December 19.

In the first two editions of the BPL (2012 and 2013), players were selected via auction. From 2015, the league switched to a draft system, which remained in use until the last season.

However, to accommodate franchise requests, the upcoming edition will return to the auction system, as confirmed by the governing body.

The council has finalized the five franchise owners for the next season, taking into account financial transparency and other criteria.

The names of the approved franchises have been announced:

1. Dhaka Capitals

2. Chattogram Royals

3. Rajshahi Warriors

4. Rangpur Riders

5. Sylhet Titans
