In an interview in July, Nissanka had said he would be interested in playing in the BPL if the opportunity came. Now, that chance appears to be materializing. According to team management sources, talks between Rajshahi and Nissanka have advanced significantly, and an official agreement is expected soon.
This will also be the first overseas franchise league appearance for Nissanka outside Sri Lanka. Previously, he only played in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), where he scored 811 runs from 32 matches with one century and five fifties.
Rajshahi Warriors are also set to sign Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan. Additionally, Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage is expected to join the Rajshahi squad, strengthening their overseas lineup.

Before the BPL auction, franchises are allowed to directly sign two local players.
Rajshahi has secured opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim and batter Najmul Hossain Shanto, who is likely to lead the side.
Former national cricketer Hannan Sarkar will serve as the head coach.
