After a thorough financial and document verification process, Nabil Group has secured ownership of the Rajshahi franchise for the next five BPL seasons.

The team may compete as Rajshahi Stars in the tournament scheduled for December–January. Upon acquiring the franchise, they appointed Hannan Sarkar as head coach, confirmed to Cricfrenzy by Sarkar himself.

A former Bangladesh player with 17 Tests and 20 ODIs, Hannan transitioned to coaching after completing BCB Level-1 and Level-2 courses in 2010.

He served as assistant coach for Rajshahi in BPL’s first two seasons and later worked with Rajshahi Kings, Abahani, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi, NCL, and BCL.

He has also served as a selector for Bangladesh’s age-group teams and briefly joined the national selection panel in March 2024. In 2025, he became head coach of Abahani in DPL and later joined Legends of Rupganj.

Recently, he led the Bangladesh U-17 team before returning to the BPL.
