The former Pakistan T20I captain comes in as a replacement for Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi, who is leaving to join his national side ahead of the upcoming tri-nation series in the UAE featuring Pakistan and the UAE.
This marks Rizwan’s first-ever appearance in the CPL, adding another Pakistani presence in the tournament.
Earlier on Thursday, it was announced that legspinner Usama Mir had signed for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, while the Patriots’ squad already includes Pakistan quicks Naseem Shah and Abbas Afridi.
Other Pakistan players in this season’s CPL include Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, and Salman Irshad.
Rizwan’s signing also means he has now completed his limit of two overseas T20 leagues in a 12-month window, as set by the PCB for centrally contracted players. He was previously confirmed as a signing for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League earlier this year.
