Saudi Arabia planning a new global T20 league
Saudi Arabia is reportedly developing a groundbreaking global T20 league, backed by SRJ Sports Investments with a $500 million fund.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the project, in the works for over a year, is spearheaded by former Australian cricketer Neil Maxwell, who manages Pat Cummins.

Discussions are underway with the ICC, led by Jay Shah, to align the league with the international calendar, avoiding conflicts with existing tournaments like the IPL and BBL.

The league will feature eight franchise teams, including one from Australia, and will host both men’s and women’s competitions.
Inspired by tennis Grand Slams, matches will take place in four different locations annually, with the final set in Saudi Arabia.
If successful, this venture would further expand Saudi Arabia's sports portfolio, which already includes LIV Golf, Formula 1, and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
