In the other game of the Dhaka Premier League, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club took on Legends of Rupgonj. One would have thought that the latter’s name was not very humbling or modest, but they actually almost backed it up with a fine bowling performance against the Dhanmondi outfit.

While Pinak Ghosh and Md. Hasanuzzaman started well, with the latter scoring 49 from 37 and the former making 17 from 20, the rest of the top-order just dismantled. However, Nurul Hasan Shohan played an amazing innings and made 84 from 103.

He was well helped by Mohammad Elias’ 23 from 60, although it was a bit too slow for a List A game. Number 10 batsman Al Imran made 28 from 43 balls to help Dhanmondi reach 230 in their allotted 50 overs.

For the bowlers, Asif Hassan took 3 wickets after giving away only 29 runs in his 10 overs. Mohammad Sharif, Mosharrof Hossain and Naeem Islam took two wickets each to stop Dhanmondi for under 250.

However, it must be added that Shohan’s brilliance in a pressure cooker situation not only helped his team, but also made a case for himself to be in the national squad. Indeed, it was his performance that took the team to 230 after they were struggling at 67/4.
