The upcoming season of the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 will be held across three venues — Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Bogura — skipping Dhaka and Chattogram entirely.

The tournament is scheduled to begin in the second week of September. Speaking to the media, BCB Director and tournament committee chairman Akram Khan confirmed the development, stating, “We had a long meeting on this. Securing suitable venues with two playable grounds at each location was a challenge. After much discussion, we finalized Bogura, Rajshahi, and Sylhet.”

Originally introduced in 2010 as a precursor to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the NCL T20 remained dormant for over a decade.
The tournament was revived in 2024 in response to the growing popularity of T20 cricket and increasing demand from players. Last season, all matches were held in Sylhet, using both the international stadium and the secondary ground. However, continuous use of the same venues affected pitch conditions, limiting high scores toward the end of the tournament.

This led the BCB to expand the number of venues for the upcoming season. Akram further explained, “We’re trying to spread cricket across the country. Bogura has already hosted several matches successfully. Rajshahi has a strong cricket fanbase and has produced many good players. We’re also planning day-night matches in Sylhet, especially for the semifinals and final.”
