Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Towhid Hridoy has been handed a four-match suspension after once again reacting against an umpire’s decision.

With an additional demerit point added to his previous tally of seven, Hridoy now has eight demerit points, leading to his suspension for the remainder of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) season and beyond.

On Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Hridoy scored 37 runs off 54 balls against Gazi Group Cricketers before being caught off Wasi Siddique’s bowling.

Disappointed with the umpire’s decision, he reacted by spreading his arms wide — an action deemed a breach of conduct. For this, he received an additional demerit point and was fined BDT 10,000.

As a result, Hridoy will miss the Abahani title-decider against Abahani Limited on April 29. His remaining suspension will carry over into the next season.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has faced criticism recently for repeatedly changing their stance regarding Hridoy’s suspension, with three different decisions made over the past few days.
