“All matters are now being referred to the technical committee, and they will thoroughly analyze each incident before making any decisions,” said Umpires’ Committee Chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu while speaking to reporters in Mirpur today.

The Umpires’ Committee itself had come under scrutiny for its role in revising the sanction table, a move that allowed Hridoy to return after just a one-match ban.
Mithu acknowledged that this was a misstep on their part, admitting that the umpires’ department had overstepped its authority.
“We made a mistake and the process was wrong. According to the rules, the decision for reducing suspension or wavering suspension can only be made by CCDM or its technical committee,” Mithu stated.
Earlier, sources revealed that Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat, Bangladesh’s only ICC Elite Panel umpire, had considered stepping away from domestic umpiring due to how the situation with Hridoy’s suspension was handled.

“Actually not Saikat, umpires were unsatisfied [with developments] so we called them and said that cricket board’s stand is zero tolerance and we will abide within the rules of CCDM for the next decision,” Mithu added.
