In a statement issued at 11:41 pm, the BCB conveyed its condolences, saying:
“Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expresses its deepest shock and sympathy at the passing of Sharif Osman Hadi.”
Earlier, the government had said that Hadi’s condition was critical following the shooting incident.
His death was later confirmed by Inqilab Mancha through its official Facebook page.
Following the news of his death, the government announced a state mourning on Saturday. In a national address, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus said the state would take responsibility for Hadi’s wife and only child.
