In the morning, former national cricketers took to the field representing Shaheed Jewel XI and Mushtaq XI in a friendly match.
Later in the evening, current players faced off in a special encounter organised by the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB), with the teams named Adommo XI and Aparajeyo XI.
Many of the former cricketers, now serving as board directors, selectors or coaches, returned to the field in their familiar roles on Victory Day.

The annual friendly match, held in memory of martyred cricketer Jewel and organiser Mushtaq from the 1971 Liberation War, was played in a relaxed spirit, with competitiveness taking a back seat. However, flashes of past brilliance were still visible from some players.
The contest between Adommo XI and Aparajeyo XI was more competitive in comparison.
Despite a modest crowd turnout, the CWAB-organised fund-raising match saw Aparajeyo XI, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, post 166 for 9 while batting first.
In reply, Adommo XI, captained by Mehedi Hasan Miraz, chased down the target with three wickets in hand, powered by a match-winning 76 off 44 balls from BPL star Naim Sheikh.
