The BCB had initially planned to hire a foreign batting coach due to Bangladesh’s recent batting struggles, but after failing to reach an agreement with any candidate, they appointed Ashraful just before the Ireland series. He worked with the Test and T20 squads, including Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim.
The board is satisfied with his performance throughout the series. After meeting Ashraful in Chattogram, BCB’s Nazmul Abedin Fahim confirmed that both parties agreed to continue working together. As a result, Ashraful will remain Bangladesh’s batting coach for the T20 World Cup.
A reliable BCB source also informed Cricfrenzy that Ashraful’s contract may be extended until the 2027 ODI World Cup, with both sides in agreement. An official announcement is expected after the BPL or the T20 World Cup.
Salahuddin will also remain in the coaching setup. Although he had submitted a resignation letter citing personal reasons before the Ireland series, the BCB did not accept it, and the coach later agreed to stay on. He is already contracted until the 2027 World Cup.
Bangladesh players are currently on a break after the T20 series, but ahead of the BPL, the T20 squad will begin a week-long camp from December 6 in Mirpur.
Head coach Phil Simmons, assistant coach Salahuddin, and batting coach Ashraful will all be involved in the camp.
