The National Sports Council (NSC) has issued a warning against the use of national team athletes in election campaigns.

The directive was confirmed today through an official letter.

In the letter, the NSC stated that national team players are national assets and symbols of unity for the citizens. Associating their image with any political or electoral activity is harmful to the neutrality and sanctity of the sports arena.

According to the NSC, ahead of the upcoming elections, certain groups or individuals are attempting to use players for political purposes in campaign activities. This goes against sports policy and may tarnish the overall sporting environment.

The NSC instructed that no national team player may be used, directly or indirectly in any political party’s election campaign or in support of any candidate.

Players must refrain from appearing on electoral stages or participating in any campaign-related activities.

All athletes must uphold the country’s reputation through their sporting excellence and strictly follow the NSC’s directives.
