The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has approached former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful for a coaching role within the board, amid discussions to strengthen its cricket development programs.

Ashraful confirmed to Cricfrenzy that the board has approached him.

“Yes, the board has approached me about working as a coach,” Ashraful said. “We’re in discussions at the moment. Everything is still at the talking stage. I’m in a positive mindset about coaching for BCB. Whether it will be as a batting coach or in another role, that’s not yet decided.”

Meanwhile, BCB is also in discussions with several foreign candidates for the national team batting coaching role, with talks progressing significantly with a former Australian international cricketer.

The board is positive about appointing him as a batting coach, though nothing has been finalized yet.

The decision will be confirmed after BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul returns and the board meets to finalize the appointment.
