Ahead of the India clash in the Asia Cup, Litton suffered a side strain that sidelined him for two high-voltage matches in less than 24 hours; first against India and then Pakistan.
Following the tournament, the same setback has forced him to miss the Afghanistan series, where Bangladesh are scheduled to play three T20Is in Sharjah and three ODIs in Abu Dhabi.
In a post reflecting on his disappointment, Litton expressed his frustration at not being able to feature in those big contests.
“Of course, it would have been great if I could play. India–Pakistan matches in the Asia Cup are always big games, everyone knows that. Since childhood, I’ve seen these teams filled with big names. I couldn’t play in either of the two matches. Both were against big teams on the Asia Cup stage. It would have felt good to play,” he said at the Dhaka airport tonight.
Litton also spoke about Bangladesh’s performance in his absence.
“Against India, we were playing good cricket . Their spin quality was really good; they were bowling in the right areas. We couldn’t adjust to that. Against Pakistan, we believed that we could chase the target they had set. In cricket, anything can happen. But as batsmen, we failed on that occasion.”
Bangladesh will face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series starting next Thursday in Sharjah, followed by three ODIs from October 8 in Abu Dhabi.
