The Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) observations had initially left 15 clubs out of the draft voter list for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections.

Club officials later lodged complaints with the Election Commission after being controversially excluded from the councillor list. Following their appeal, the Election Commission reinstated the councillorship of the 15 clubs and confirmed the decision through the publication of the final councillor list.

Afterwards, the nomination submission and scrutiny process were also completed. However, a new twist emerged as a High Court ruling has now excluded the same 15 clubs, declaring they will not be eligible to participate in the upcoming BCB election.

According to the court directive, councillors from the following clubs are barred from taking part in the election: Exum Cricketers, Dhaka Cricket Academy, Mohammad Cricket Club, Nawabganj Cricket Coaching Academy, Purbachal Sporting Club, Gulshan Cricket Club, Old Dhaka Cricketers, Vikings Cricket Academy, Banani Cricket Club, Nakhalpara Cricketers, Mohakhali Cricket Academy, Dhanmondi Cricket Club, Pacific Cricket Club, Sapphire Sporting Club, and Alpha Sporting Club.

Among them, the most notable is Vikings Cricket Academy, whose councillor Ifthekar Rahman Mithu was expected to run in the election.

Whether they move to take further action remains to be seen. This development has cast uncertainty over the BCB election, which is scheduled to take place on October 6 as per the announced timetable.
