From Category 1 (Districts & Divisions), 25 candidates have taken forms; with Dhaka (3), Chattogram (5), Khulna (3), Rajshahi (4), Sylhet (3), Rangpur (6), and Barishal (1).
In Category 2 (Dhaka Clubs), 32 individuals have collected nomination papers, while 3 candidates have submitted from Category 3 (Universities & Organizations).
Among the high-profile names, former Bangladesh captain and current BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul has collected his nomination from the Dhaka Divisional Sports Association.
From Khulna Division, Abdur Razzak has become a councillor and collected his nomination under Category-1 after stepping down from the Bangladesh men's team selection panel today.
The most talked-about candidate, Tamim Iqbal, has entered the race through his representative Minhaz Uddin Khan, who picked up nomination papers on his behalf. Tamim is a councillor from Old DOHS Club under Category 2.
Former BCB president Faruque Ahmed collected his nomination as councillor of Rangers Cricket Academy, while current BCB Umpires and Media Committee chairman Ifthekhar Rahman Mithu, Shahnian Tamim (Rangpur Riders’ team director and councillor of Mariner Youngs), and Debabrata Pal have also collected forms.
In Category 3, former Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Khaled Mashud Pilot has collected nomination papers.
According to the BCB constitution, the board of directors’ election is contested in three categories.
Category 1 (District & Divisions): 10 directors are elected by 71 councillors. Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna divisions each elect two directors, while Barishal, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Rangpur elect one each.
Category 2 (Dhaka Clubs): 12 directors are elected by 76 councillors.
Category 3 (Universities & Organizations): 1 director is elected by 45 councillors.
Once the 25 directors are elected, the BCB president is chosen through their votes.
