The curtain is set to rise on the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tomorrow, but ahead of the competition, the trophy unveiling ceremony took place today in Bogura. Surprisingly, only four of the eight team captains were present, raising questions about the absence of the others.

With the tournament beginning simultaneously in Rajshahi and Bogura tomorrow, the opening two days in Bogura will not feature matches involving Dhaka, Khulna, Chattogram, or Rajshahi.

As a result, the captains of these four divisions skipped the trophy launch. Despite Bogura being only a two-hour journey away, their absence was attributed to a lack of interest from the teams.

Present at the ceremony were Sylhet captain Zakir Hasan, Dhaka Metropolis captain Mahidul Islam Ankon, Barishal’s Salman Hossain Emon, and Rangpur skipper Akbar Ali.

Last year, during the inaugural edition of the tournament in Sylhet, all eight captains jointly unveiled the trophy.

The competition gets underway tomorrow with Sylhet facing defending champions Rangpur in the opening clash in Bogura, while in Rajshahi, Dhaka Metropolis will take on the hosts Rajshahi.
