Mohammad Mithun elected as CWAB president, Cricfrenzy
The Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) election was held on Thursday, long surrounded by speculation. Previously, the central committee was dominated by former players who often failed to protect the interests and benefits of active cricketers, leaving many frustrated.

This time, current players have taken the lead. Out of 11 posts, 10 were uncontested, with most candidates elected unopposed. The only real contest was for the president’s position.

2 hrs agoVoting took place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur between 3–5 PM. Former national cricketer Selim Shahed faced off against batter Mohammad Mithun.
Mithun won by 120 votes, securing the presidency with 154 votes, while Selim received 34. Two ballots were invalid. Of 215 eligible voters, 190 cast their ballots (160 in person, 30 online).

After being elected president, Mithun stated that he wants to expand CWAB’s activities across the country.
“I believe cricketers and the BCB are one family, there should be no distance. The BCB is our guardian, and we can always present our demands to our guardian. Whatever problems we face, we can share them. I hope those at the BCB will view these matters positively.” Mithun said in Mirpur.
The election brought together both past and present players at Mirpur. Stars like Tamim Iqbal and Nurul Hasan Sohan participated, along with former CWAB president Aminul Islam Bulbul.
