Despite a solid opening stand, Bangladesh ‘A’ could not fully capitalize with the bat against Northern Territory Strikes in the Top End T20 Series. Nurul Hasan Sohan’s side posted 172/4, with Afif Hossain top-scoring but falling short of expectations.

However, brilliant spells from Hasan Mahmud and Rakibul Hasan powered Bangladesh ‘A’ to a 22-run victory.

With this win, Bangladesh now have two wins from four matches, collecting four points to climb to seventh place in the 11-team tournament table.

Pakistan Shaheens, Melbourne Stars Academy, Melbourne Renegades, and Perth Academy also sit on four points but are ahead of Bangladesh on net run rate.

In Tuesday’s match at Darwin, after losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Bangladesh ‘A’ enjoyed a flying start.

Naim Sheikh smashed six boundaries in his 11-ball 23 before being dismissed, and was quickly followed by Saif Hasan (10 off 3 balls) and fellow opener Jishan Alam (30 off 23, three fours and one six).

Despite a late cameo from Yasir Ali and a steady knock from Afif Hossain, the visitors were restricted to 172 for 4. However, disciplined bowling later ensured that Nurul Hasan Sohan’s side emerged victorious.
