Bangladesh’s talented wicketkeeper-batsman Akbar Ali has reached a new milestone by successfully completing the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Level Two coaching certification.

At just 23, the former Under-19 World Cup-winning captain is already showing remarkable maturity, broadening his understanding of the game from both a player’s and a coach’s perspective.

Akbar, who famously led Bangladesh to their maiden ICC Under-19 World Cup triumph in 2020, recently took a short break from the Bangladesh Cricket Board High Performance programme to travel to England for the specialised course.

The experience allowed him to view cricket through a different lens — combining the on-field mindset of a player with the analytical approach of a coach.

The course covered a wide range of skills, from refining batting and bowling techniques to developing tactical plans, boosting mental resilience, and managing players effectively.

Akbar believes the knowledge gained will not only enhance his own performance but also equip him for future leadership and mentoring roles in cricket.

“I always wanted to do this at very young age. Because I believe it can help me grow as a PLAYER and also as a human being. I appreciate the support from BCB and ECB to complete this course.” Akbar posted on his social media handle.
