Bangladesh U-19’s rising all-rounder Rizan Hossain continues to impress with both bat and ball as he known for his pace bowling and strong batting skills, Rizan played a key role in the team’s recent tri-nation series victory over South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Earlier, he was also instrumental in Bangladesh’s win over the Proteas on their home soil.

In the tri-series final against South Africa, Bangladesh batted first and posted 269/5 in 50 overs. Rizan was the backbone of the innings, scoring a fine 95 runs before being run out, narrowly missing out on a maiden century.

Later, with the ball, the right-arm pacer turned destroyer, taking five wickets to help dismantle the South African batting line-up. Speaking to Cricfrenzy, Rizan said the five-wicket haul eased the disappointment of missing the century.

“When I was on 95 and taking a run, I was confident I had reached the crease. I believe I made it, but perhaps the umpire couldn’t see it clearly with the naked eye. I respect his decision. Whatever happened, Alhamdulillah, it turned out for the best. The regret of missing the century was gone after I took five wickets,” said Rizan.

Though a pace-bowling all-rounder, Rizan draws inspiration from several senior Bangladesh players. Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are among his favourites, along with Mushfiqur Rahim and international star Ben Stokes.

In world cricket, he admires England’s Ben Stokes for his all-round ability. “In Bangladesh, I like many cricketers, so it’s hard to name just one. I like Tamim bhai, Shakib bhai, Mushfiq bhai — there are many. In world cricket, I like Ben Stokes,” he added.
