Bangladesh U19 start South Africa tour with dominant win

Bangladesh U19 got off to a strong start in their South Africa tour, defeating the hosts by a massive 130 runs in the opening match.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted an imposing total of 290 for 6 in 50 overs, riding on a trio of half-centuries from Zawad Abrar (70 off 61), Rizan Hossain (63 off 55), and Md Abdullah (63 off 76).

Opener Zawad was in full flow with nine boundaries and two sixes before falling to JJ Basson, who was the standout bowler for South Africa with figures of 4/47 in 10 overs.
Skipper Azizul Hakim contributed 26, while Farid Hasan Faysal (16*) and Debasish Sarkar (18*) provided a useful late push.
In reply, South Africa U19 were rocked early by Iqbal Hossain Emon, who dismissed both openers, including captain Jorich Van Schalkwyk for a duck.

Emon returned with superb figures of 3 for 26 in 7 overs, supported by left-arm spinner Shadhin Islam, who also grabbed 3 for 29 in 6.1 overs.
Despite a fighting 72 from Muhammed Bulbulia, the only batter to offer resistance, South Africa were bowled out for 184 in 32.1 overs.
Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated throughout, with Rizan Hossain and Debasish Sarkar also picking up a wicket each.
