Shamim: I’ve always admired AB de Villiers’ batting

Shamim Hossain plays a shot in the second T20I, Cricfrenzy
Bangladesh have once again mirrored their ODI series pattern in the T20Is. Just like in the 50-over series, the Tigers lost the opening match but bounced back strongly in the second. While the ODI series slipped from their grasp in the final game, this time, they have a chance to rewrite the script in the decider.

In the second T20I in Dambulla, Bangladesh thrashed Sri Lanka by 83 runs, bowling them out for just 94 after posting 177. It marked Bangladesh’s biggest T20I win (by runs) against any ICC full member nation.
Litton Das praises Shamim Hossain after series-leveling win

The foundation of the massive win was laid by captain Litton Das, who smashed a commanding 76 off 50 balls, featuring 5 sixes and a four. Litton first shared a 69-run partnership with Towhid Hridoy (31 off 25), and then added 77 runs with Shamim Hossain, who provided the late fireworks with a quickfire 48 off 27 balls. Their combined effort took Bangladesh to a strong total of 177/6.
Shamim, who had remained unbeaten on 14 in the first game after facing just 5 balls, grabbed his opportunity this time—both with the bat and in the field. His crucial direct hit run-out of Kusal Perera at the start of Sri Lanka’s innings set the tone for Bangladesh’s dominance.
Speaking after the match, Shamim credited Litton and Hridoy for setting the platform.

“Sometimes you need to slow the game down in the middle. That partnership between Litton and Hridoy was really important. We had good batters at the back end, so we could afford to take our time early,” he said.
‘Bangladeshi fans might not like me saying this but Bangladesh won’t make the knockouts’, says AB de Villiers

Shamim once again expressed his admiration for South African legend AB de Villiers, saying: “I’ve always admired AB de Villiers’ batting. Personally, I try to stay positive in my approach. That’s the key in T20s—the more positive you are, the better you perform.”
With the series now level at 1-1, Bangladesh are eyeing the final T20I to claim the series—something they missed out on in the ODI leg.
“Since we lost the ODI series, this T20I series is now very important for us. We’re still in it. If we perform well in the last match, we can win the series, In Sha Allah,” Shamim added.
