He said the instruction was delivered during a meeting with Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud on Wednesday. However, Faruque remains adamant that he will not resign.

“The adviser didn’t explicitly ask me to resign, but he made it clear they don’t want me to stay on. Still, I won’t step down because I was elected to this role.” Faruque said to media.
Faruque, a former Bangladesh cricket captain, assumed the BCB presidency on August 21 after the Awami League government stepped down.

The remaining BCB directors chose him after the National Sports Council—Bangladesh's top sports authority—nominated him and Nazmul Abedeen Fahim as their board representatives.
