Speaking to the media at the end of Day 3, Mominul said, “A lead of 300 would be ideal. If not, then at least 270–280 runs. We still have faith because apart from Mehidy (Hasan Miraz), we’ve got Taijul, Hasan—players at the tail who can bat.”
Mominul, who shared a promising 65-run partnership with Najmul Hossain Shanto, reflected on the missed opportunity. “That was a key moment. We had the chance to seize the game. If our stand had extended to 150–180 runs, we could’ve comfortably pushed for a 300-run target,” said the left-hander, currently Bangladesh’s fourth-highest Test run-scorer.
Looking ahead to Day 4, Mominul emphasized the importance of a calculated approach. “We’ll have to bat very carefully in the morning. It might be tough early on, but once we get through that period, the game could open up. At that point, we need to settle in and bat long.”

Bangladesh erased Zimbabwe’s 82-run first-innings lead and now lead by 112 runs with six wickets in hand. Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani, who also spoke at the press conference, said their aim is to restrict Bangladesh’s target to under 200 runs.

“We want to chase something less than 200. That means we need to take the remaining six wickets within 88 more runs,” Muzarabani stated.
Muzarabani acknowledged Bangladesh’s fightback but feels Zimbabwe holds a slight edge. “It was a tough day. Bangladesh fought hard, but I think the day slightly tilted in our favor. Still, the match is in the balance. There’s a lot of time left, and anything can happen in Test cricket,” he added.
